Twelve years a slave

A terrible story but very important to understand what has happened historically. Soloman was a free man but was kidnapped and sold into slavery. If he mentioned his real name or showed that he could read and write, he risked harsh punishment. He finally ended up on a cotton farm where he had to work hard and still risked being whipped or killed. The story is very well written and is a true story. Just that it is true and that the plantation owners treated their slaves worse than animals is terrible.
